Nowadays, it’s becoming increasingly uncommon for bands to spend years crafting an album, which truly manages to push the sonic boundaries. But the electro rock/dance duo INFECTED MUSHROOM—comprised of Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani and Erez Eisen—is an exception to the rule, as they spent close to two and a half years honing their eighth studio full-length release, ARMY OF MUSHROOMS. Scheduled for release May 8 via Dim Mak Records, ARMY OF MUSHROOMS is undeniably INFECTED MUSHROOM’s most stylistically varied album to date.

The first single from the album, “U-R-So-Fu**ed,” is out today and has the duo dipping their toes slightly into dubstep laced with an operatic vocal. Its accompanying video was shot in HD and features the pair matched up against Argentinean wrestlers Lilian Pavone and Norma Álvarez. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0DTHEQgses&feature=youtu.be.

“It’s been ready for a while, but we kind of changed the album all the way up until now,” explains Duvdevani. “It’s basically a brand new album that was intended to be out last year. A lot of material came in at the last minute and a lot of new influences. I think it’s a huge difference because the album is much more diverse now than it was before—sound-wise and music-wise. This album has the most diverse electronic music genres that we have ever had before. On this album, we have drum and bass, dubstep, electro, trance and glitch hop.” Other tracks on the album include collaborations with Borgore, Zedd and Zia Macovich.

Originally formed in 1997 and hailing from Kiryat Yam, Haifa District, Israel, INFECTED MUSHROOM has certainly left their stamp on the electro dance and rock genres, having worked with the likes of Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction) and Jonathan Davis (Korn), in addition to twice being voted among the world’s “Ten Best DJ’s” in DJ Magazine (however, they do not DJ). In the process, the group has issued such hit albums as 2009’s Legend of the Black Shawarma (which peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart) and scored such dance hits as “Killing Time” and “Smashing the Opponent.” Look for more details to be revealed soon about ARMY OF MUSHROOMS and INFECTED MUSHROOM’s 2012 tour plans.
